Why an online seller’s account can be frozen
If you earn through online selling, freelancing or remote work in Cyberjaya, you may be paid by people you have never met. If one of those payments is scam money, the account can be frozen.
Being caught in a freeze does not make you guilty, but it explains why an ordinary account can suddenly be locked.
Which court and police office would you deal with?
The Selangor courts directory lists the High Court at Shah Alam and Klang. It also lists lower courts at Sepang, Kajang, Petaling Jaya and other towns, but it does not name Cyberjaya. [f6]
The Selangor police list districts such as Sepang, Serdang, Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya, and again do not name Cyberjaya. [f7] We have not confirmed which court or district covers it, so go by what your notice says.
What to do when a notice arrives
Check the court name or station on your notice against the Selangor lists above. The contingent headquarters is at Persiaran Kayangan, Seksyen 9, Shah Alam. [f7]
If the notice is unclear, write down the officer’s name, the station and the file number, and keep the bank’s message with them.
Who can freeze your account?
The freeze powers are national. Under AMLA 2001 section 50, the Public Prosecutor can order a freeze on an account suspected of holding money from crime [f1].
Under the 2024 amendments, a police officer of Sergeant rank or above can freeze an account under Criminal Procedure Code section 116D, without a court order [f2]. Check your bank messages and letters for the reason given.
How to check whether you are flagged
If you sell online or freelance, check early. The PDRM Semak Mule portal shows whether an account or phone number is flagged as a mule account; save the result [f4].
If you know where you stand before you contact the bank or police, you can answer from evidence, not guesswork. Keep your invoices, chat records and payment screenshots together.
The most serious charge, and your rights
The heaviest mule-account offence is Penal Code section 424C, which covers transactions through an account without a lawful purpose [f3]. It carries 3 to 10 years in jail, or a fine of RM10,000 to RM150,000, or both [f3].
Article 5(3) of the Federal Constitution gives an arrested person the right to consult a lawyer of their choice [f5]. A lawyer can check your records, explain which section you may face and advise you before questioning.

Why can a Cyberjaya account be frozen after an online payment?
