A Puchong side-income story
Picture a small online shop in Puchong, selling clothes or gadgets from a phone. The seller gives their online banking login to a “helper” or “supplier” so customer payments can be confirmed faster.
It feels efficient for a while. Then the account is frozen because some incoming money came from a scam, and the police call.
The seller never meant to launder money, but the account is now part of a mule account investigation.
Which offences apply when you share a login
These offences are federal law, so being in Puchong does not change them. Giving someone else control of your own account is covered by Penal Code section 424B. The person who uses your account can face section 424A [f1].
If scam money actually passed through the account, section 424C may apply. It is the heaviest of the three [f2]. Which section fits depends on the facts, not on how helpful you meant to be.
A lawyer’s first job is to match your situation to the likely section and plan your answer.
Check whether your account is flagged
Anyone can check an account number or phone number on the PDRM Semak Mule portal [f3]. If your details appear, get advice rather than going quiet.
Keep your customer chats, order records and delivery proofs. They can help show you were genuinely selling. A lawyer can turn them into a clear timeline before you give a statement.
If a scam victim is involved
The frozen money may trace back to a customer or someone else who was scammed. If so, report it to the National Scam Response Centre on 997, which can act quickly on suspect transfers [f4].
You may still be treated as a suspect while you feel like a victim, so get legal advice as well.
Read what to do now and section 424A explained.
Puchong: finding out where to give a statement
A call or notice about a Puchong account may come from any Selangor police district. The directory has none named Puchong. [f7] Ask for the district and officer, then speak to a lawyer before you go.
Bring your ID, the notice, the chats with whoever asked for your account details and your order records. If the notice does not say where, ask the officer in writing or by message.
If a charge follows, the charge sheet names the court. [f6] Do not assume it will be near Puchong. If you are arrested, Article 5(3) of the Federal Constitution gives you the right to consult a lawyer of your choice [f5].
Legal aid for a Puchong mule case
The Legal Aid Department lists a Selangor office, and the Bar Council has a Legal Aid Centre in Shah Alam. [f8] [f9] They decide who qualifies.
You can message us from Puchong first and ask for a referral to an independent law firm, so there is no travel needed to ask.
For local details, see the Puchong page and the mule account defence guide. If the police have asked you to come in, send us a WhatsApp message first and ask to be referred to a lawyer.

I only shared my login so a helper could confirm customer payments. Is that risky?
How do I check whether my account is flagged?
Use the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Semak Mule portal. Anyone can check an account number or phone number there [f3]. If your details appear, keep your customer chats and order records, because they can help show you were genuinely selling.
A customer says they were scammed through my store. What should I do?
Report it to the National Scam Response Centre on 997, which can act quickly on suspect transfers [f4]. Get legal advice too, because police may treat you as a suspect even though you feel like a victim.
Is there a court in Puchong?
The Selangor courts directory lists no court named Puchong. It lists Sessions and Magistrates courts at Shah Alam, Klang, Petaling Jaya, Ampang, Selayang, Kajang, Bangi, Sepang, Kuala Selangor and Kuala Kubu Baru. [f6] The charge sheet names the court.
