How Record Clearing Works After a Mule Case
Your case has ended but a record or flag may remain, so here is who deals with what.

What people mean by “my record”
People ask how to clear their record as if it were one button. In fact there are three different things, and each has its own process.
The first is the outcome of any court case. The second is a flag on the Semak Mule portal, which the public can check. The third is the day-to-day trouble a flag causes, such as a bank refusing to open or run an account for you.
Work out which of these you are dealing with first. One action may not fix all three.
A court record and a mule flag are different
A court record shows how a case ended: a conviction, an acquittal, or a charge that was dropped. A mule flag only shows that an account was reported or linked to suspicious activity, and you can see it on the Semak Mule portal [f1].
Because they are separate, winning in court does not remove the flag by itself. The flag may need its own steps. Do not assume one settles the other.
Check whether you are flagged
The Semak Mule portal shows whether an account or phone number is flagged as a mule. More than 190,000 accounts were flagged in recent reports [f1].
Check your own account before you do anything else. You need to know whether a flag exists before you can ask how to deal with it.
Can a flag or record be cleared?
There is no single answer. It depends on how your case ended and on the law and process that apply to you [f4].
Be wary of anyone who promises to wipe any record. The safe way is to collect the facts of your status first, then get advice on the right process for your case [f3]. A lawyer can tell you which route, if any, applies, and who handles it.
Who handles which part
CCID, the Commercial Crime Investigation Department at Bukit Aman, is the police unit that investigates mule account cases [f4]. For banking problems, Bank Negara Malaysia supervises the banks and takes complaints on BNMLINK 1-300-88-5465 [f2]. The bank that acted on the flag is also part of the picture.
Under Article 5(3) of the Federal Constitution, you have the right to consult a lawyer of your choice [f3]. That lawyer can approach the right body for each part on your behalf.
Keep your papers together
Keep one file with your court outcome, letters from your bank and a screenshot of your portal check. With these in hand you can show the facts instead of explaining them from memory.
If a flag is still blocking your banking after your case has ended, send us a WhatsApp message. We can refer you to a lawyer who can look at your papers and advise on the next step.

Is a mule flag the same as a criminal record?
No, a flag on the Semak Mule portal is separate from a court record [f1]. The flag says an account was reported or linked to suspicious activity. A court record shows how a case ended.
