Can I Use My E-Wallet During a Freeze?
An e-wallet is separate, but a flag or link to the frozen account can block it.

Can you still use your e-wallet if your bank account is frozen?
It depends. An e-wallet is a separate e-money account, so a freeze on your bank account does not freeze the wallet automatically [f1]. But the wallet can still stop working if it tops up from the frozen account, or if you have been flagged as a mule.
So the first step is to find out why your wallet stopped.
An e-wallet is a separate account
E-wallets are e-money accounts supervised by Bank Negara Malaysia, and they are separate from your bank account [f3]. That is why a bank freeze does not, by itself, empty or lock your wallet balance.
A section 116D freeze covers the account under suspicion, not every financial product you hold [f1].
When a freeze or flag reaches the wallet
Two things can change that. First, some wallets top up from a linked bank account. If that account is frozen, top-ups fail, even though the money already in the wallet is untouched.
Second, a mule flag is not limited to one bank. If you are flagged, the wallet provider may restrict your wallet, and you may struggle to open accounts later, because of the same suspicion [f2].
How to check what is happening
Check both sides instead of guessing. Search your account number or phone number on the PDRM Semak Mule portal to see if it is flagged as a mule [f2]. Then ask the wallet provider whether the wallet itself is blocked, or only the top-ups from your bank.
If you think a bank or wallet provider has acted wrongly, you can complain to Bank Negara through BNMLINK on 1-300-88-5465 [f3].
What to do next
Ask one question first: is the wallet itself blocked, or has it only lost its top-up source? Check your Semak Mule status and keep every message from the bank and the wallet provider.
If a mule flag is involved, get advice before you give the police a detailed statement [f2]. A lawyer can look at what the bank and police have done and help you deal with the flag, not just the wallet.

Why did my e-wallet stop working when only my bank was frozen?
Some e-wallets top up from a bank account. If that account is frozen, top-ups fail, even though the wallet balance is held separately. If you are also flagged as a mule, the wallet provider may restrict the wallet itself [f2].

How do I check if I am flagged?
Search your account number or phone number on the PDRM Semak Mule portal [f2]. A mule flag can affect your wallets and any account you try to open later, not only the frozen one. Finding out early gives you time to get advice on clearing it.
