How do I check Semak Mule?

Go to the PDRM Semak Mule portal at semakmule.rmp.gov.my. Type in an account number or a phone number. The portal shows whether it has been reported and flagged as linked to a mule or scam [f1].

The check is quick and open to anyone. Use it two ways: on your own details, and on anyone you are about to send money to. Spotting a flag before you pay can warn you not to send the money.

What a flag means, and what it does not

A flag is a report, not a conviction. It shows that someone has reported the account or number. The database has recorded more than 190,000 flagged accounts [f1].

A flag does not mean you are guilty, charged or convicted. Mule-account cases are investigated by the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) at Bukit Aman [f3]. A flag is a reason to get organised, not to panic.

If your own details are flagged

Treat it as an early warning. Save a copy of the result and note the date. Gather your bank records and any messages that explain your transactions.

Under the Federal Constitution you have the right to consult and be defended by a lawyer of your choice [f4]. Get advice before you give the police a detailed statement. A lawyer can look at how the flag arose and what you can say about it.

To understand the offence behind a flag, read what a mule account means.

If someone you paid is flagged

Act fast. Call the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) on 997, which runs 24 hours. It can trigger urgent action, including freezes, to try to stop the money [f2].

Keep the transaction details, the Semak Mule result and your report number together. A quick report with records may help stop the money, and it shows when you acted. See what to do now and first hour actions.

What do I actually type into Semak Mule?

Type in a bank account number or a phone number. The portal shows whether it has been reported and flagged as linked to a mule or scam [f1]. Check any account or number you are worried about, and anyone you are about to pay, before the money moves.

My details are flagged. Does that mean I am guilty?

No. A flag means someone reported the account or number. It does not mean you have been charged or convicted. Mule-account cases are investigated by the CCID at Bukit Aman, so treat a flag as a reason to get organised [f3]. You keep the right to be defended by a lawyer of your choice [f4].

Someone I paid is flagged. What should I do?

If you have already sent money to a flagged account, call the NSRC hotline 997 straight away. It can trigger urgent action, including freezes [f2]. Keep the transaction details, the Semak Mule result and your report number. A quick report may help stop the money, and it gives you a record of what you did and when.
