Which Melaka police office may contact you?

The police directory lists IPK Melaka at Ayer Keroh Lama, Bukit Beruang. It also lists district headquarters (IPD) for Melaka Tengah, Alor Gajah and Jasin. [f7]

If you are asked to give a statement, ask which office is calling and the officer’s name. Write down the date and time before you attend.

Where is the court in Melaka?

The judiciary lists the Melaka High Court at Kompleks Mahkamah Melaka. [f6] Whether your case is heard there or in a lower court depends on the offence charged.

Your charge sheet or summons names the court and the date. Check it as soon as you receive it.

For the district around the state capital, see the Melaka City page.

What are the two ways an account gets frozen?

Under AMLA 2001 section 50, the Public Prosecutor can freeze an account suspected of holding money from crime. Section 52A makes that order lapse if the person is not charged within 18 months. [f1]

Separately, a police officer of Sergeant rank or above can freeze an account without a court order under section 116D. [f2] The first practical question is which one was used.

What offence covers holding someone else’s account?

Penal Code section 424A covers having or controlling someone else’s payment card or bank account without lawful authority. It carries a fine of RM5,000 to RM50,000, 6 months to 5 years in jail, or both. [f3]

You can check whether an account or phone number is flagged on the PDRM Semak Mule portal. A flag is a reason to get advice, not proof of guilt. [f4]

The Legal Aid Department lists a Melaka office. [f8] The Bar Council has a Legal Aid Centre in Melaka at Hang Tuah Jaya, and the Malacca Bar Committee is one of the State Bar Committees. [f9]

Each has its own eligibility rules, so ask what they need before you go. If your complaint is only about the bank, raise it with the bank first, then the Financial Markets Ombudsman Service. [f5]

What should I do now?

Leave any remaining balance untouched and keep every bank letter. Save your statements, the freeze notice and any messages that explain the transfers.

You do not need to travel to ask for help. If you are considering legal representation, request independent lawyer contact on WhatsApp with a brief, general message and no documents.
